Troubleshooting - Diamond Problems and Possible Causes

Diamond Tool Is Worn Out of Round

(1)   Bearings on arbor shaft failed

(2)   Arbor shaft bent or worn undersize

(3)   Arbor hole of blade damaged

(4)   Blade matrix too hard for Material

Diamond Tool Won’t Cut

(1)   Possible damage or blade dull from previous cutting

(2)   Metal matrix holding diamonds too hard for material being cut  

Uneven Segment Wear

(1)   Possible water restriction on water feed tubes

(2)   Bad arbor bearings

(3)   Arbor shaft bent or worn undersize

(4)   Arbor shaft possibly not square with machine  

Arbor hole out of Round

(1)   Blade collar loose during previous cutting

(2)   Blade collars worn or dirty

(3)   Blade not properly mounted

Undercutting of Steel Core  

(1)   Cutting of abrasive material

(2)   Asphalt or green concrete requires special under cut resistant core

(3)   Cutting completely through material into loose sand or rocks

Cracks in Segments

(1)   Blade was overheated

(2)   Blade too hard for material being cut

Blade Wobbles

(1)   Bad arbor bearings

(2)   Blade running improper speed

(3)   Arbor shaft bent

(4)   Blade is damaged (bent)

(5)   Blade collars damaged or dirty

Segment Loss

(1)   Blade overheating

(2)   Core worn by abrasive material cut

(3)   Blade segments too hard for material being cut

(4)   Blade or arbor bad causing blade pounding

Cracks in Steel Core

(1)   Blade fluttering because of improper tension

(2)   Blade segment too hard for material being cut

(3)   Possible bad arbor shaft or shaft bearing

Loss of Proper Blade Tension (Blade Flutter)

(1)   Loss of tension from overheating

(2)   Bad arbor shaft on arbor bearing

(3)   Blade segments too hard for material being cut
